    Di. F.

When emmigrating to an English speaking country why do some people – generally observed as the older generations such as ‘grandma’ ‘grandpa’ etc not learn to communicate using the English language? Is it because of age or an inability or disinclination to learn a new language? I seem to witness a lot of elderly ethnic people who I know have been in an English speaking country for more that a decade or two yet still do not speak or understand english?
