Why is it like joining a sorority when a female wants to play tennis?

I wouldn’t say that female tennis players are rare, but as an avid tennis player I don’t see too many talented women playing tennis; this is probably because I do not belong in a country club. Just like a sorority, it isn’t a cheap. It takes coaching, equipment, and a nice place to play. In many ways tennis is still an elitist sport–especially if you want to become good–because you need spare time, money, and courts. And there’s the male/female difference: I don’t want to be sexist, but in my limited experience I think men will generally beat women at tennis. This means women will generally play with each other, thus forming social groups (which are probably socioeconomically better off).
