Rites of passage

I’m a Jew from Israel. When our children turn 12 (girls) or 13 (boys) we celebrate their passage to adulthood. They take over the resposibility of an adult to carry the obligations that society orders them to take. Of course, this is the history, and today it’s only tradition. I’d like to know about other cultures with similar customs.
