    It seems to me as though the majority of atheists in the United States had a Catholic upbringing. Is this accurate, and if so, why?

    No, I do not think this is true, Atheists have many different reasons for being Atheists. I just didn’t understand that you were supposed to believe in Jesus. I thought of Jesus as more of a metaphor, and I realized around 9-10 that it was a lie, just like Santa Clause had been.
