Cynthia31728ParticipantWhy do African-Americans believe that light skin as a standard of beauty is ‘Euro-centric’? Europe wasn’t the only part of the world where fairness was considered the most beautiful. Asian cultures have long had the same principle, and this was centuries before European colonization. Just as in Europe, light skin meant that one was aristocratic, and darker skin meant that one was a peasant.
