Why do so many black men around the world seem to despise their own race of women? And why do so many black men date non-black women – or date black women but dogg them out?

I’ve answered questions on Y similar to this, and I’ll keep answering until people learn enough to stop asking. Black men DO NOT hate black women. Particularly since you are my age, I suspect you’ve run into men who display the maturity gap that is so common in males 13-26. A lot of males those ages are just plain stupid,NOT just blacks. Look at the news, and the daytime talk shows, do you see white women getting trated any better? Take the numerous posts from hispaninc and asian men, one added just today, who date white women, because being able to date white women is seen as some sort of achievement. Black people should stop being so hard on themselves, and black women should stop being so hard on black men. If you attribute such behavior specifically to them, you’ll tend to act on it and have lower expectations. Lower expectations, of anything or anyone, always bring lower quality.

Black men do not hate black women. We just want the same opportunity to date women of all races that is afforded to white men.

I agree that some black men disrespect black women, but to believe we hate them is ridiculous. When a black man mistreats his woman, it reflects poorly on him, making him look like less of a man. When a brother chooses to be with a ‘non-black’ woman, then that’s his choice, and we have to respect it. Black men are just like any other race of American-born men; we want lots of sex from multiple partners. This is simply the culture in which we were born. But it’s no excuse for doing it. Black women are all we black men have. I love all people, but there’s no other race of women on this planet that can compare to a black woman. Immaturity, unresolved issues with one’s mother, low self-esteem, a hurtful previous relationship and/or ignorance seem to be the root problem for these black men who are in question. Self-hatred is the main reason for negative behavior by brothers toward sisters. Just remember, the rest of us love you.

Tracy, I don’t have an answer for you, merely an observation: I live and work in the Midwest, as a pre-school teacher, and while I have had many biracial children in my classroom over the years, none of them has been from a white man/black woman couple. Why? Many of them were happily married couples with several children, although most were single white mothers raising biracial children. I wonder why that is?

I don’t think it’s only black men who hate or despise their women. In every race there are a few who choose to hate their own race. I’m pretty sure you have seen many white men who date outside their race. I’m pretty sure you’ve seen or heard of many white men who treat white women harshly. I understand your concern, but keep in mind our ancestory – we were beaten into believing that white woman were the most holy and godly creatures on earth. The white man had his woman on a pedestal; he hardly ever made love to her and would rather have sex with the African slave. Therefore, for Africans who were slaves in the United States, white women were the most precious women to get hold of, whereas black women, who were beaten and raped and labeled as goods, were nowhere near in comparison to a white woman. Some blacks may have a genetic predisposition to believing that this is true; therefore, you have your cases of black men seeming to hate and despise black women.

This is one black man who loves black women – and all women of color for that matter. I love the full lips, curved hips, round voluptous butts, those beautiful shades of hue, the intelligence, the humor and the sensitivity of women of color. I don’t know what kind of black males you’ve encountered, but it’s not representative of the whole. I don’t thinks it’s as much a ‘hate’ thing as it is a preference. If a man or woman can find someone he or she loves and wants to spend time with, then the color of their skin is secondary.

Hell no! I love black women! But to answer the question: I have several black friends who don’t date black women, and they’ll give reasons like: black women are harder to deal with, they always have attitudes, all they care about is money, i.e. standard stereotypes, which of course are generally not true. But it seems to me that a lot of black men have bought into the advanced stereotype that black women are undesirable except perhaps as whores, whereas others, particularly white women, are the epitome of femininity and are highly desirable. They internalize these stereotypes, and, without any first-hand knowledge, believe them to be true. It’s really sad.

I have been wondering the same thing. Here in Minnesota many black men date or marry women with a light skin complexion or any other race but black women. I myself sometimes wonder why? But on the other hand, I have tried dating outside of my race and noticed that the same black man with a white woman on his arm or in his bed will make rude comments about me and other black women dating white men…What’s good for the goose isn’t good for the gander.
