D.Z.MemberWhenever I’m traveling in Europe, I see many Canadians that display flag patches on their backpacks. I finally decided to ask a Canadian backpacker once if he and his fellow citizens were just brimming with national pride because I’ve never seen an American tourist with a stars and stripes patch. He said it is so people will not mistake him for an American. While I don’t blame him, I was wondering if this is the prevalent reason for the seemingly patriotic display?
