I think the person who said that camping reminds black people of slavery is wrong. I have never heard such an idea in my life. I can tell you why I’ll never go camping (I can’t speak for the majority of black people, but some may have similar feelings): I’m a city girl. I grew up in the city, I live in the city, I go to school in the city. I like running water, I like cable TV, I like air-conditioning in the summer and central heat in the winter. And there is no way anyone is going to get me to spend an extended period of time in a place with no toilet or shower. I would much rather experience the theatre or a restaurant or any of the many forms of city entertainment.
