First a caveat — fetishes can be very hard to explain; for some people, that’s just the way it is. However I can think of three reasons that I personally have fantasized about it at different times in my life: (1) if you can’t find a human partner and are horny (as is likely with the middle school girl you talked to), you might look for alternatives — I almost tried to get a dog to lick me when I was young, to see what it was like. (2) I know that I am interested in the different sensation of sex with a male dog; it is supposed to have a more frantic pace than with a human male, and dealing with the knot on the penis is pleasurable for some. (3) I (and undoubtedly others) am turned on by the taboo nature of the act.
